Become a GOTV Leader
Goals of position:
-
Assist the local union in building capacity to exercise political power.

Lead 2026 worksite action leaders in implementing the campaign plan at GOTV and legislative sites.
-
Coordinate local union efforts with the statewide Education Minnesota campaign.
-
Win the governor’s election with a pro-public education candidate and leverage voter turnout to win back a pro-public education majority in the House and maintain the majority in the Senate.
Stipend Available: GOTV leaders will be eligible to receive a stipend of $1,200 for leading this work from February-November 2026.
Activities and duties required to earn stipend:

Attend the 2026 Education Minnesota Political Conference, which is Jan. 30-31.

Collect and verify process and submit Worksite Action Leader paperwork according to Education Minnesota paperwork.

Attend GOTV Leader training virtually (If did not attend training at Political Conference).

Participate in regularly scheduled meetings monthly with Education Minnesota political organizer and a cohort of other local union get-out-the-vote leaders.
- Have one-to-one with Education Minnesota political organizer and complete campaign template.

Recruit and arrange for training of worksite action leaders for all GOTV and legislative buildings in the local.

Host and train WALs at an in-person meeting before the end of the 2025-26 school year.
- Participate in individual check-ins with Education Minnesota political organizer.

Assist with campaign communications to worksite action leaders by email, text and Zoom about the campaign activities at worksites. Support worksite action leaders in their efforts. Campaign activities summarized below.

Lead social media and texting tactics for the local union in the campaign.
Worksite campaign activities timeline:
Spring:
-
Fill out and turn in your GOTV application (must be approved by your local president).

Create your local’s Individual Campaign Plan with your assigned political organizer (field staff and local presidents welcome and encouraged to participate).

Recruit and train WALs for all targeted worksites. Only sites with a trained WAL are eligible for program reimbursement.
Fall:
-
Distribute printed toolkits to WALs in targeted worksites and train them on their use.

Toolkits include rosters of targeted voters WALs need to have a one-to-one with and hand the two sided side-by-side candidate comparison and voter guide flyer.

Communicate with WALs regarding progress of one-to-one conversations with targeted voters.
-
Communicate with WALs about their get-out-the-vote event at their building to ensure it happens between early voting and the day before Election Day.
- Host at least one fun/educational off-site training event for WALs to reiterate importance of the election and re-teach proper reimbursement procedures for timely processing (Menu of options) ($1.75 per member, per event reimbursement is available).

Help promote digital platforms to distribute campaign information.

Other activities, as determined in your individual campaign planning meetings, from the menu of options.
Post-election:
- Collect reimbursements materials from WALs to verify all their paperwork is correct and mail materials to Education Minnesota.

Participate in a GOTV leader group campaign debrief session with political organizers.

Become a Worksite Action Leader
Help win back a pro-public education and pro-labor majority in the Legislature in the 2026 election so our union can continue to make progress on pay, pensions and health care. Become a Worksite Action Leader (WAL)!
Requirements/job description:
- Attend a 60-minute Worksite Action Leader training (in-person or virtual) and submit a WAL plan for your worksite.
- Conduct a brief one-on-one conversation with select members at your site, focused on non-partisan vote planning.
- Distribute a two-sided, non-partisan voter guide/gubernatorial side-by-side candidate comparison to all members at your site.
- Host a minimum of one non-partisan voter engagement activity at your site between the beginning of early voting on Sept. 18 and the day before Election Day on Nov. 3.
- WALs can host more than one event per site.
- WALs will be reimbursed $1.75/member for the costs of your activity (sign-in sheets and receipts required).
- If provided a roster of colleagues who are priority voters, submit roster used to track your face-to-face conversations. You will be provided information on your materials at the Worksite Action Leader training.
- Submit reimbursements to your local union GOTV Leader (or Education Minnesota staff if there is no GOTV Leader in the local). Reimbursements must be submitted by Nov. 17.
