Schools really are starving, but there’s hope.
Try to imagine a year when educators came back to school and found smaller class sizes than the year before, or a stipend that actually covered the out-of-pocket costs of setting up a classroom, or enough education support professionals to meet the needs of every student.

ESPs hold our schools together.
Everyone who works in public education wants pretty much the same things. Respect for our contribution to the care and education of our students. Fair compensation for our work, including health care we can afford. Working conditions that are safe and allow us to do our best.

School safety starts with people.
We all want safe, secure and welcoming schools so our students can focus on learning and educators can focus on teaching. This is important every single school day – not just if there’s an armed attack.  Minnesota needs to invest in people before building security. This will take time and money, but that is no reason to delay.

Misdirection on the teacher shortage.
Minnesota is at a critical juncture for our students. Leaders need to decide if our children deserve highly-prepared educators or if they will just settle for quick fixes that will do nothing to stop the growing shortage of qualified teachers.

Toward a more just and inclusive Minnesota.
Union members believe that everyone who works hard, plays by the rules and contributes to their family and community deserves their fair share of the freedoms, security and opportunities our state offers to everyone.

The freedom to join together
Unlike our neighboring states, educators and other public employees in Minnesota still enjoy the freedom to join together in union. We can negotiate a fair return for our work and use the power of our numbers to advocate for the resources and policies our students need to succeed.
